The books currently reading are - Catch 22 - Joseph Keller Carl Sagan " Broca's Brain" I finished this book - Stay Confident by John Caunt . Its an amazing book and a must read for those among us who are stranded in their career path and wrestling with career choices for this book talks about how to recover from setbacks, overcome fears, build supportive relationships, combat office politics, handle criticism, cope with crisis - it basically covers anything and everything that helps one to survive in the workplace without losing ones self esteem.

Train Return Journey

Sorry for posting this late... As all good things have to come to an end, the party time @ the wedding ended...we all parted ways and started the journey back home. Oh as soon as I boarded the train, I dreaded the thought of starting office again. Anyways - I had the company of 3 more friends. Our seats were distributed in 2 coaches but by late evening we finally convinced a fella to exchange the seat. Now this fella was a strange man. He had just a small bag and was alone. We requested him to exchange seats but he was reluctant. Every time one of us approached him to ask him if he has made up his mind, he would ask which coach? Which berth, lower / upper? - we gave him the same answers again and again. Now what prompted him to make up his mind is still unknown. But anyways thanks to him. The 24 hours journey we spent in fun. We all were in the same coach and so used to sleep by turns, one of us used to get the top berth and the rest share the lower berth...we had 2 iPods - one Apple ...

Another weekend movie watching spree....

LIFE MEIN KABHIE KABHIEE - Recommended one...do watch...story revolves around 5 friends just passed out of college starting on their own...Each moves on to pursue their own dream and has a different interpretation of what happiness means to them. They plan to meet each other after five years to find who has achieved what. One wants power - achieves to become a politician; other wants success - wants to become the top business man and come out of the shadows of his elder brother; other money - marries the rich and famous, other wants fame and aspires to become a celebrity and becomes one at the cost of her best friend, other wants love, money and fame. The movie shows how they take or are forced to take the shortest route to success. An interesting movie... Most of the members of the cast are newcomers or are not well known stars - the movie has this fresh feel. Namstey London - Well it was okay types...It had some good moments though - the NRIs and the NRPs parents are still Indi...

OMG!!! TANNED!!!!!

Oh yeah me have tanned...now please world stop it। I am fed up of being asked the question again and again...what happened to you? Why have you turned so dark? You look thin also!!! Now lemme explain you all - I have tanned because I have stopped scrubbing myself coz I wanted to look fatter. (यह क्या बकवास हैं) ok if this is true then then why me not appearing fat - well because me scrubbed myself to look fair. (यह थो बहुंत ज़्यादा बकवास हैं) Whatever!!! Now see I am neither fat not fair; me left thin and tanned :-(

Lateral Thinking - F1!! F1!! Can anyone answer??

Image
My colleague forwarded an excel sheet with some 30 questions. In an yet another collaborative effort, me, my colleague, and $$ tried our hand in solving the questions. Monsoon Wedding

I was warned by my mom that it would be extremely hot there...but surprisingly it was cool there :-D The weather was amazing. It drizzled and the place had the hill station ambiance. People were little anxious that it might rain and spoil the arrangement but nothing of that sort happened. We have a saying that if you eat food directly from the Karahi (its something like a wok) then it rains during your wedding. It turned out that my friend had eaten out off the karahi but our dear sweet pretty bride didn't and that saved the day. Ok Ok Mr. OLD , both of you saved the day :-D. Go and drink your Appy and be Happy :-P After the wedding ended the next day and that too late in the night it poured heavily when everything was done with. Thank you weather God for not being a spoilsport.

Train Journey

Ooh my journey was pretty interesting and eventful as I had the privileged company of a cockroach and a rat, an old uncle - dadaji , a gal in love, 1 uncle and 2 pals. I will exclude the cockroach and the rat from my discussions as a mark of respect to them. Now this Dadaji was an interesting man...he read books from the teaching of Koran, to yogic visions, to the Religion in the country today. He loved to play cards and knew so many games which he taught to the rest of the gang. He followed his daily schedule even in the train. After we boarded exactly at 8 he had his dinner, sat in a yoga posture which he claimed helps in digestion and at 9 he was off to sleep. he simply turned off all lights and announced that he wished to sleep. We too followed him as we were left with no choice. The next morning he was up and at 9:30 AM he switched off the lights and asked all the sleeping heads to wake up. He ensured we all woke up - no arguments. he had by that time finished his break fast an...

I'm Loving It - An update

I accidentally noticed the hindi font thing while playing around with the cocomment tool. Was trying to do something in the template. Anyways here you can read more about the Hindi font fundas :-)

ऍम लविंग इत (I'm Loving It!!)

Image
There was another purpose in sharing those rhymes ...You see Blogger has this too good thing...we can type in Hindi too... I am not sure if it offers for other languages All you need to do is to simply select the अ icon and start composing the text as soon as you press enter the test in English will change into the Hindi script. Further, if you want to type in, then use their character board...

Remember these rhymes...

Appraisal Mess - Valuable Tip

People, I am gonna share a tip... You are all lucky, coz me sharing here the mantra in "I Know Who's" words...Remember it when you are filling your goals sheet for the year... The second law of corporate cynodynamics "Whatever you put as measurement should never be measurable. That way, the people who get promoted can claim they met the measure, and to the people who did not get promoted, the managers can say they did not meet the measure." Leave comments and I will direct it to the expert. keep looking here, I will be posting more mantras.

Enjoy the rains

After that scorching heat, the fire venting dragon, thats me, the fire has sizzled...why and how?...its raining here :-D Although its unseasonal but me welcome it along with ppl who have suffered the wrath of the dragon ;-) Although me have started hating rains because in this city, if you are walking, standing at the bus stop, the passing vehicles will ensure that they cover you from head to toe in dirt. Even if you are travelling in those Auto rickshaws the cars will splash water and cover you in dirt. But this time rains, I welcome them... Now the rains started Sunday evening, what better day to start, me and my cousin had gone out for shopping and because of the heat we decided to have lunch and return home. We entered the restaurant, now this one's a open air one which has seats shaded by the canopy and the huge Banyan tree. its pretty cool in there even during peak summers. Anyways we ordered for food and were contemplating on when and how we would be completing the shopping....

Comments Tool

I have been trying to use this cocomment thing. But me have been unable to put it into proper use... I blame the popup blocker and firewall in office :-( and everytime I reach home, I forget to try as I get stuck in other mundane tasks :-(...I blame the activites that make me domesticated for this. Now enough iof this blame games, people, I welcome all comments who can explain a dumbo, sorry send a Dummies guide on how to use this cocomment thing. I really wanna use it.

Another forward - Howzatt!!!

Image
This came as an email attachment ...Kudos to the person who came up with this idea...

Sharing a Forward

Just now after I logged off from the blogger and thought lemme get back to my work, I received a forward and couldn't resist sharing the best among them so me back again... "I know KUNG FU, KARATE and 47 other dangerous words" "The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back into your pocket" "Before you criticize anybody, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes."

We are "Charged"

These days most of my colleagues are charged. Well here the charge doesn't mean that the workplace is full of excitement, but its that we all are charged. Yes charged. Now take note, people when handing over things to each other, touch each other and are "shocked"!!...Few of my colleagues sneak behind each other and scare the ones who are engrossed in work and are...yes shocked!! Its amusing to watch the people in action. All charged up!! Well yes you have guessed, static charge is what develops and as soon as these people touch each other they both get the shocks. This static charge keeps our workplace charged.

"FRIDAY THE THIRTEEN"

Today is FRIDAY THE THIRTEEN...so lets celebrate!! hey all paraskevidekatriaphobia people, chill today is a day to celebrate, why you ask....coz this time its $$ 's Bday...you may continue to spend the rest of the 13th friday as the way you want to. But today its special day. :-D Happy Bday "Double S" Have a fun filled day.

Ding Dong Tring Tring

My cellphone and the door bell have an invisible wire that connects them. They seem to exchange some information with each other. Yes, always happens that they generally ring simultaneously (What a coincidence!!) and always at the right time, when I am in the middle of: Taking my bath that too when I have the lather all over my face Boiling milk and that when the milk is just done Chatting and that too when chatting on the most interesting subject and with a long lost friend or someone who rarely comes online Sleeping and when I reach the true delta sleep, the deepest sleep Watching a movie, the climax scene Cooking and that too at the activities like kneading the dough, or sprinkling salt... Eating, just when I am about to eat the first morsel... A piece of information- there is no network coverage for my cellphone in my house, it comes only 1 area in my bedroom and that too you need to sit in one position, you tilt your head and loose the signal. Well, me have trained myself to take...

Girl - Friends?

The summer heat does make me the fire venting dragon but today morning the incident that happened in the bus , makes me furious. This gal always takes the 6th seat and me sit somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd seat. 2 gals sat next to her not on the same seat but on the same row. Her 2 other friends sat behind her. Enroute, this gal fell ill and puked. The guy who sat behind me woke me up and told me that a gal is not feeling well, kindly see. I went upto her and assured her that everything is fine. But strangely when I looked around all the gals were staring at me and her but no one came forward to help her. I didnt even know her name, they had her phone number. I only knew the bus stop from where she boards the bus, the others knew her home. I picked the bag in which she puked to throw it and these gals turned their head in disgust. What in the world, dont we puke, dont we help our family members when they are ill, dont we help our friends when they are ill. I asked around if someone had so...

Image
See this is the state in which we have brought our monuments. Here is the wall of the temple and see how many people have left their autographs. Isnt this a sad sight. Why do people do like this? The pic is shot by me @ a temple in Karnataka.

"Blink"ing Thougths

Blink by Malcolm Gadwell talks about the concept of “thin slicing” a term used to talk about the kind of thinking that happens at the blink of an eye and you come to a series of conclusions within the few seconds. We can control the decisions / conclusions by training ourselves. It includes examples, actually fascinating facts from diverse fields; surveys, research analysis reports. Scientific theory, media, music popularity, gambling, dating, marriage and divorce, soft drinks, war games, military tactics, emergency room doctors…Its actually fun reading the book Special mention - stock brokers and the military people’s bonding…these are the people who need to take decisions in split seconds. The Pepsi and coke challenge – how even facts and survey results can prove wrong. And the face reading – the expressions and the facial muscles tells us whether the person is speaking the truth or lie…all interesting read On the whole the book was an interesting read although it drags at places wit...

Boring Without the Internet

Yeah I felt that the world was coming to an end. I reached home, tried to connect to the Net in vain. I tried to call up friends and bother them. But sadly, I had chosen the wrong time. Finally I was bored and called up one of my friend and was successful in boring him :-D or being bored. He kept referring to mails he sent or some other topic which required me to be online. What a true friend I have!!! Finally after an hour of ranting, me called up the Customer Support to find the reason, and the automated voice mail told me that my calls have been debarred as I didnt pay my bill. What in the world do they mean that I didnt pay my bill. When did they send me the bill? I thought that this was the replay of my Mobile bill . Now I was in a big fix. I pay my bill online but couldnt as there was no Internet. I could pay through the Easy Billing Junction but they needed the hard copy of the bill. So what should me do. simple!! me called my brother and asked him to pay my bill online. G...

Appraisal Mess - Promotion

A quote from the movie Devil Wears Prada Andrea: My personal life is coming apart. Nigel: That's a sign that you're doing well at your job. When everything really goes to pieces, you're about to get promoted. I was planning to check with people who have got promotion whether this holds true ;-) On second thoughts, I wish there could be some signs that would tell me that I am getting promoted, actually, I think someone else with whom I am working will tell me that - "My personal life is all messed up, I am sure you are getting promoted." :-D

Puppy Love

There is this litter of 7-8 puppies all darling off white...cute looking ones but are stray dog off springs. Now these play full creatures are so adorable cutie pie....even me who is scared of dogs simply loved them. Sunday evening, returning from a friends place. As soon as, I alighted from the auto and was busy searching for some change to pay to the auto driver, 4 puppies made my shoes their home. One of them sat on my feet and dozed off in an instant. He might have found it very comfy. I paid the auto driver. and saw that one of them wanted me pick it up. They were so cute. I got so lost in playing with them. Suddenly I heard a loud bark. I turned around to see the puppies mom. She gave this Momma's dreaded look when you spill something on the sofa.... I turned around and told her that I didn't invite the kids to play with me they came to play themselves. She was furious, how dare some human  argue with me. She came closer and barking even louder. I was about to flee; ...

More movies...More reviews...

Hide and Seek - This one was a nice one based on split personality . very nicely done but it kind of drags a little here and there. Overall enjoyable and watchable. 28 days later - man a virus spread across the city ....makes people kill each other...people turn man slaughters...the vampires on prowl. It was a complete time waster. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Too good Awesome movie. The role of Naseeruddin Shah is too good. I liked him better than Sean Connery. For the first time, any Indian has been given such nice role and have been portrayed with respect. Kudos to Naseer for living up with his fab performance. The movie is also brilliantly shot. Watch it atleast once. Euro trip - teenage gang...stupid movie...sprinkled with loads of stupid stuff..stay away from it Love don't cost a thing - Another of the stupid movie but better than the Euro Trip one...Its also on teenage love and all...teenagers would like this movie but not for oldie...still go ahead and w...
