Wednesday Class

I forgot to tell about how we reached on the question on the manual vs mental labour - that was the most interesting part of the class :D We were discussing a case - this watchman is stationed outside the lab where a snake is spotted by a prof. The watchman refuses to kill / shoo away the snake as he is without any protective gear. What all should be supplied to the watchman - "Snake repellent spray" and "Mongoose" were the suggestions from my classmates. The watchman should be "dressed to kill" and "ready for combat" against snakes or maybe in future if need required to be prepared against rodents, cockroaches, and .... The discussion went on for a while (let me tell you, all the while our prof had the discussion flow in his control - another example of good trainer) and was ended on the note that that if we were to compare the salaries of VP and the watchman we will find that its 66:1 or for every 1 rupee earned by the watchman; 66 gets earned ...

"Wel-Come" Wednesday

Another class...people around me are enquiring about study...exams are nearing! Now whats this, I forgot in the excitement to join back college that I have to also appear for the exams. I was enjoying the classes, the discussions were eye opener and now whats this - exam. Ok me have to start studying. Fine I enter into the library and I come out with "Rich Dad - Poor Dad" :D Now my dear friend "A" would say ya, its a good book to read, you must read it. Ok so here I am reading it, and I would soon start preparation for my exams, I still have time. Tring Tring ! Hey so what have you decided - when are you gonna start preparing for exams? There goes "K" asking me study. Ok I have to seriously think about that, but first lemme finish these books and me just remembered me also have to watch the comedy " Bhagam Bhag " :D ok about Wednesday class, I love this particular Profs style. He uses the right blend of different media - we have the PPT a...

Rains, Quotes, Holidays, Back to class

Rains are back and with that comes the days when you have to wade through the dirty waters. The more you try to avoid the dirt the more you fall prey to it. I left the clean and safe street of my apartments and hit the road to be greeted by a passing bike - choco mucky water right on to my shoes and half of my jeans. Wow!! I forgot to have my Choco Horlicks today!! Back home changed into another shoes and jeans and then finally took the right steps to reach the bus stop! No mud see!! But till when?? There comes this car and voila!! Forget it there comes your bus get into it, its the rainy season remember. Drink loads of choco and keep smiling! Remember last year even your face was smeared with the mud, its better now. Ok moving on...One person enquired as to why I use so many quotes in my posts. Well why? Actually I have this habit of collecting quotes from everywhere, wherever I can lay my hand on...Whenever I am writing something these just pop to my mind....I read something like th...

Friends!!

Sunday morning and this article ....While reading, I wondered whether Friendships comes with an expiry date? Is there nothing as such called as eternal friendship. Hmmm...lemme go back and see my own sets of friends...I have travelled to loads of places and lost and found loads of friends. Some I lost, because we moved ( changed the city, school, or the job) and became too lazy to write or talk to each other. And then they all got settled and got tied up with their family affairs. And we moved on all got our new sets of friends. If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair. by Samuel Johnson With a couple of friends, I had fall outs because of some reasons and we simply parted ways. It was the best thing to do, I guess because neither of us were willing to accept their faults nor forgive each other. Friendships leave a bitter taste and do have an expiry Tag!! But thankfully, I...

Being a Mom - No Kidding!!

There was a couple attending my class. Imagine both of them getting to study together maybe after a long time - how sweet!. Well, she has withdrawn her name from the course. She had to as there's no one to take care of her kids during those 2 hours of our class. Now, why cant her hubby take care of the kids after all its his kids too. Maybe instead of quitting college, one of them could attend the classes while the other, took care of the kids. But who knows maybe there could be a reason why this wasn't a viable solution for them. While travelling back home, I was still working out what could be a solution for them. At that very moment, I recalled having read somewhere about group that had started day care for the mothers who were continuing their study at a Business School. I still am trying to search it on the Net to find the details and maybe share those with my B-School. If they feel it could be a viable option it would be a boon to many others like her who want to take up...

@ Bus Stop

As usual me waiting for my bus which always comes late at whichever time I plan to leave... that's a different story in itself and in one of my Profs words "वों बात फिर कभी" Here comes an old man...walking with the aid of an stick, he comes pauses for breath, and then starts a conversation with me. There are some 10 odd people there but he speaks only to me :-( The other day, another lady came up to me and started talking. This happens often, I don't know why? Its not that I don't enjoy or like such chats (In fact, I welcome them for want of materials for my posts - blogging is such an addiction, I tell) but there are times when I wonder why they come and speak to me even when I am unable to speak the local dialect. Well still at the quest!!

Monday "Blew" Me

Ok an update for the Sunday Day...me bunked the dance lessons and instead watched the movie Cheeni Kum. Its a too too good movie....i will soon post the review but its too good movie - a must watch for all! On with today's session, me went for classes today and as usual Mr "I" with the examples oriented towards "I". He is a septuagenarian and out of respect no one among us wants to say anything to him or possibly all might disagree with me. Anyways, today's interesting part was the word "Assume" and it means "ASS - U - ME" (Read Ass between you and me) :D And another bit of good news that's too good!! I cant share that but someone else is getting hitched ;-D Celebration time!!! From now on me will skip all sad part because be always "Happy Sad" and not "Sad Sad"...(something from Cheeni Kum)

Happy "Sun" Day

Image
I am having a fabulous Sunday. Am so eager to share my day that I couldn't wait for the day to get over to post the events. To begin with the weather is awesome here. Its at its best. It drizzled in the morning and the sun is continuously playing hide n seek. Me went for a long ride on my cycle (Yup, me have borrowed a cycle from one of my neighbours - its my idea of contributing in some way to Mother Nature) Clean roads - No muck on the roads with very few cars / traffic coz people don't wake up early on a Sunday morning. Enjoyed the long drive and then went into a grocery bought the instant batter, grated coconut pack, and cut Sambhar veggies and a small curry powder packet for lazy people like me and ofcourse my energy bar. Had my snickers first then started my ride back home. Back home, cooked Sambhar , Chutney , and Dosas . I have borrowed the above image from the Internet. Coz the ones that I cooked wasnt even close to whats shown here. But still....the Sambhar was very t...

Lectures - How its going?

Phew!! All the lectures that me attend are difficult for me...not that I have a very low IQ that I dont understand but its something to do with conflicting knowledge. Now I am an Instructional Designer and its been ingrained in me certain guidelines to ensure that learning happens effectively. Say you must refer stick to the same term. Say if you like to call participants, don't use different terms such as Trainees, students.....just stick to the term participants. The first thing that every trainer needs is to ensure that the aids that he/she going to use is working properly and they are well prepared for the lecture. All I do in the lectures is to find if they are using the right tips and tricks to ensure learning happens effectively. and if there is a PPT, I spend most of time noting if there is consistency in the titles and the texts....If the Prof cites any example, I try to find if it goes well with the audience and is it relevant to the context....I try and see the flow of t...

Back To School - B School

Yup finally me decided to share the experiences I am having at my college. Actually me already started to share the experiences. If you remember, I had shared my Goals and one of the goals is to pursue MBA. But I kept telling myself that's its too late, I'm now old, then the book - Alchemist changed my mind. (See the quote that influenced me along with my Blog Title) So me gonna share few enriching, exciting, and interesting events here. I hope none of my batchmates are reading this. The reason is I dont what them to change their opinion about me. I have no clue as to what makes them think that I understand or am capable of understanding everything thats being taught there. Hmm !! And you know what, I want them to live in this disillusion, for it makes me feel important - what a ego booster :D. Psst...just between us, I sit in the second seat because my lenses are dry by late evening, and I can barely read whats written on the board. Further, me hard of hearing too - its t...

Come, Tell Me How You Live

The Queen of Crimes - Agatha Christie's book was a surprise in store. It had the delightful descriptions of her life in Iraq and Syria when she accompanied her Husband to one of the archaeological expeditions. I picked this book for I never knew any other book apart from the crime stories that I had read existed from her. I thought it might be different and maybe an interesting read and I wasn't disappointed either. It has vivid descriptions of her days spent in the alien land with strange customs and traditions. Its a pleasure to read and I was hooked on after a few chapters. It had very few details about the archaeological digs contrary to what I thought it would contain but more about the people and how she put up with the life in an alien land.

Spelling Fool

Me not only Dunce at dancing but also spelling. Today me was asked to spell " Foolscap " and me the greater one spelt it "Fullscape". :-( Anyways learnt something new, me actually had never spelt it before!! See I am getting to know more about myself too!!

Dunce @ Dancing

"Now why in the world she doing that???" For those who know me well this would be the first question that would pop to their mind. Anyways they would then continue to say "You can expect her to do anything stupid" Some head shaking. "She is hope less, actually there's no hope for her" "So how its going? Are you enjoying?" Yeah me enjoying if thats what enjoyment means. Me unable to do a SINGLE step. Imagine they want me to move my waist, hands, feet, together in SYNC with the music and to add to that SMILE (when I am busy grappling with the feet so that doesnt hit my partner) and look into the eye of the partner and not towards the feet. "Now you there dont tell me thats what it means to DANCE." I knew that but how do me, I mean "ME" do all this gracefully. Thats what the instructors keep repeating - You are a lady, dance gracefully. Now if you have seen a footballer, well my steps are just like them. Unfortunately...

Peeling Potatoes

I was reading this book - Come, Tell Me How You Live, by Agatha Christie , in which she talks about her fairy-dream house...where she mentions no peeling potatoes. I wondered as if peeling potatoes was another of those tormenting acts...and today I realised how tormenting it can be...I picked 2 large sized potatoes, peeled them and while slicing I found one of them had this huge black scar and I think its one of this . I continued to peel potato after potato to find one of that....and then I understood the meaning of peeling potatoes!! :-( Anyways its one of those days...but I am happy, my friends (long time no see) calling me up and giving me the good news!!! Yeah so me have loads of weddings to attend...and Psst...even $$ is getting hooked. :D

Changes n Changes

You remember I had long back shared this ...and I did also mention that it had a huge impact on me...it got me thinking what is my dream, what would I wanna pursue and I created my mind map - listed all the things that I wanna do...and just plunged into pursuing them....thats it...no planning required just do them now...no waiting for the right moment and the right time...now is the right time to do... Now me back to study - joined a B- school and doing part time management program and me reading now only those books which are related to my subjects - no fictions :D ...me even joined Salsa classes :D and I am giving a tough time to my instructors but still me trying to learn to move though un-gracefully :D but still trying that what matters, Right! What next, me havent given it much a thought but soon will find out!!
