I happened to lay my hands on this book – The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman . The book writes about the differing styles between the fairy tales by Grimm and Anderson. The critics of the book also say it as a modern day fairy tale. I really was curious to find out more about the term “fairy tale”, its origins and what makes it so enduring. Let me confess, although the fairy tales are intended for children, I as an adult am equally enthralled and entertained by them. I continue to savor them in any form – oral, written, movie, or theatre. Just the word “fairy tale” transports me to a magical imaginary world.
