House of Secrets

This novel by Jennie Walters is the first book in the 'Swallowcliffe Hall' series. Swallowcliffe Hall is a large palatial building set out in some English Country site. The story revolves around a teenager - Polly Perkins a cheerful, hard-working sort of person who got things done - working as a housemaid in the Hall.

The story is written in the first person narration by Polly and its very interesting. Her fear of staying alone, far away from home, being bullied by other maids, and how she makes friends with the Aristocrat family ladies and children and other maids in the Hall.

All in all a very interesting read and un-put-downable. Now I am planning to even try and read the other books in the series. The next one deals with Polly's gal - Grace - head strong gal and the last one with her grand child Isabel - a dreamer. All working as maids in Hall.
